Excellent. Steve fitted an oak internal bi-fold door into my home that needed bespoke modification to fit a slightly mismatched opening plus additional oak architraves. Steve is highly skilled and experienced, leaving a high quality finish with everything straight and running smoothly. High attention to fine detail and quality workmanship throughout, thoroughly planning the build in advance and cleverly concealing the fixings. Professional and courteous service. Digital written quotes and invoicing. Worked long hours and always cleaned up afterwards. Highly recommended.

We are really pleased with our new front door that Steve made for us, which is exactly how we wanted it and in keeping with the age of our property. From the start of the project to the finish, Steve has been professional- giving us advice, making sure everything was exactly how we wanted it, and completing the job to a high standard.

Steve did an amazing job and made my house look stunning. We would highly recommend to friends and family. He was very considerate and patient towards our daughter with special needs. Steve cleared up as he worked whilst taking his time to give a good look. If we need any work done in the future, we know to contact him again.

Steve did an amazing job fitting a flat packed kitchen for me. His attention to detail is superb, he solved various issues (kitchen supplier’s fault), worked neatly and was polite and considerate. Highly recommend and wouldn’t hesitate to use again.

Stephen was solid. Quick response, good communication, excellent work, and an actual invoice! Everything you expect of a professional business. I've asked him to come back to follow up on other bits. He also made no fuss about my cat going wild as he worked...bit plus!

I am delighted with the work Steve did for me and would wholeheartedly recommend him. He has such a wide range of skills. Not only that, but he is flexible and resourceful when unexpected problems arise and always has a solution. An added bonus was how tidy he left the site after he had finished. I will definitely use him again.

Replacing front door step, re-plastering, replacing floor joists and sole plate . Laying a new floor

Steve and his team at SP Bespoke have been a breath of fresh air when doing some carpentry work at my house. I have initially got them to correct some previous poor work and finish it off correctly. They turned up on time when they said they would, their work is excellent and they always tidied up after everyday. I will be using them for more work in my house and part of a new kitchen where we need much more bespoke work that a kitchen company cannot provide.

Fantastic work and reliable service

We were extremely impressed with the knowledge and skills together with the high end service both Steve and his assistant, James provided. Our dilapidated external feature staircase to our Oast is now beautifully restored. Our Well has also been enhanced by introducing a bespoke duo pitched cedar shingle tiled canopy. All to budget. Passers-by have since stopped to admire and take photo's commenting on how beautiful the Oast looks- thanks to SP Bespoke Ltd.

Oast House: Feature Staircase and Canopy over Well

Stephen has done an excellent job. He has lined the hole and fitted beautifully engineered doors that soft close. He has succeeded in turning an ugly hole into a useful built-in cupboard that looks like it has always been there. He left the work site, in and out, as clean as it was when he started. I can highly recommend him and I will certainly use him again if I need to.

Excellent experience, on time, good communication, tidy and workmanship of excellent quality. Already received quotes for further works.

Carpentry for Tunbridge Wells Homes

Tunbridge Wells includes an unusually varied mix of period houses, converted properties, family homes and newer developments.

Homes around Mount Sion, St James’, Mount Ephraim and The Pantiles can include tall ceilings, chimney breasts, alcoves and walls that are not perfectly square. These features give a room character, but they can make standard furniture difficult to place.

In newer areas such as Hawkenbury and Knights Wood, the challenge is often different. Bedrooms may have less spare floor space, while open-plan living creates demand for discreet storage and fitted home-working areas.

We measure and build around the individual property rather than assuming that the same arrangement will work everywhere.

Common Local Storage Challenges

• Chimney breasts dividing bedroom walls
• Deep or uneven alcoves
• Loft rooms with sloping ceilings
• Limited storage in converted properties
• Smaller bedrooms in newer homes
• Underused space beneath staircases
• Period details that need to remain visible
• Narrow access in central Tunbridge Wells

Our understanding of these local property challenges helps us plan a solution that is practical to install and useful once completed.

Carpentry for Period Properties and Conservation Areas

Tunbridge Wells has a strong architectural identity, with many listed buildings and homes within designated conservation areas.

Internal fitted furniture will not normally affect the outside appearance of your property, but extra care may be needed where work involves protected features, original joinery or the fabric of a listed building.

We can plan new carpentry to complement existing proportions, skirting, mouldings and other details without making the room feel overfilled.

You will need to check whether listed building consent, planning permission or another approval is required before any relevant work begins.

For official guidance, consult Tunbridge Wells Borough Council before authorising alterations that could affect a protected property.
