Many carpenters offer free quotes, but it depends on the type of work and how much detail is needed before a price can be given.

For simple jobs, photos and rough measurements may be enough to provide an estimate. For more detailed carpentry, such as fitted furniture, restoration work, storage or made-to-measure joinery, a site visit may be needed to check the space properly.

A useful quote should cover the work required, materials, labour, finish, timescale and any assumptions. For example, fitting skirting is very different from designing and building bespoke storage, even if both are carpentry jobs.

To get a more accurate quote, provide clear photos, measurements, the property location, your preferred finish and any examples of the style you like.
